Report: Celtics hire Nets’ assistant Ime Udoka as new head coach

BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE)- The Boston Celtics reportedly, hired Brooklyn Nets’ assistant Ime Udoka on Wednesday to be the team’s next Head Coach, according to ESPN.

The reported hiring comes exactly three weeks after the massive front office shake up the team had to kick off the offseason.

Udoka would be the the 18th Celtics head coach in franchise history, after being an assistant in San Antonio, Philadelphia, and Brooklyn.

Players on the team reportedly pushed for Udoka’s hiring after playing under him at the 2019 FIBA World Cup, according to ESPN.
