WINTHROP, Mass. (WLNE)- Massachusetts State Police have identified the victims of Saturday’s shooting in Winthrop.

David L. Green, a retired state trooper who had a 36-year career in law enforcement, was shot and killed on Saturday in Winthrop.

The other victim was identified as 60-year-old Ramona Cooper of Winthrop.

Cooper was an Air Force veteran who was still involved with the military.

Green was outside of his Beach Road home when the shooting happened, according to a statement from Colonel Christopher Mason.

“Trooper Green was widely respected and well-liked by his fellow Troopers, several of whom yesterday described him as a ‘true gentleman’ and always courteous to the public and meticulous in his duties. From what we learned yesterday, he was held in equally-high regard by his neighbors and friends in Winthrop,” said Colonel Mason.
