PROVIDENCE, R.I.(WLNE) — A two-month-old male is in stable condition after being admitted to Hasbro Children’s Hospital’s Pediatric Intensive Care Unit on Monday.

The Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) announced on Tuesday the infant was admitted with multiple injuries that indicted abuse including head trauma consistent with “shaken baby syndrome,” that met the statutory requirements of a near fatality.

DCYF said there has been no prior involvement with the family, but in conjunction with the Coventry Police Department, officials interviewed the child’s parents, and searched the home.

Believed to have inflicted the injuries upon the infant, the father, 28-year-old Anthony Dicicco, of Coventry, was arrested on Tuesday after authorities obtained an arrest warrant.

His arrest came without incident.

"The infant victim is currently listed in stable condition and will remain at Hasbro Children’s Hospital pending additional tests and treatment as the full extent of the injuries are still being determined," said Coventry Police.

Dicicco is expected to be arraigned on Wednesday.

No further information is available at this time.
