Child hit by car at shopping plaza in Fall River

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — A teenager is in police custody Monday morning after striking a 7-year-old boy with his car Sunday evening.

The incident occurred in the parking lot of the Burlington Coat Factory on Mariano Bishop Boulevard in Fall River at approximately 6 p.m. Sunday.

Police say the 19-year-old also hit two parked cars while trying to flee the scene.

The child was taken to Hasbro Children’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver is now facing multiple charges including operating without a license, negligent operation of a vehicle, and driving while under the influence.
