PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Senate Finance Committee has decided that it is going to take up the latest Pawsox proposal beginning in mid-September.
Their first of six hearings is scheduled for the 14th of September. They are reviewing a bill that would use $23 million in state money to help finance a new $83 million stadium in Pawtucket.
Even if the committee does approve it, the General Assembly would have to come back in a special session to send it to Governor Raimondo’s desk.
However, that may not happen because the City of Worcester has already been hard at work attempting to lure the team to their city instead.
