PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A late night fight over the weekend ended with a woman dead and a man charged with felony assault.

The suspect appeared in Providence District court Monday morning.

40-year-old Christian Boucher went before a judge and he will not be out anytime soon. As a repeat offender and bail violator, the judge ordered him to be held at the ACI.

Boucher’s latest charge is felony assault for his involvement in a fight around 8 p.m. Saturday night.

According to police, Boucher was involved in a fight outside the Burger King on Broad Street in Providence.

A female victim, identified as Justine Cavaco, 29, of Barrington, was discovered by police and later died at Rhode Island Hospital.

An autopsy is being conducted to see if Cavaco died as a result of the assault from Boucher. Therefore, depending on the autopsy results the felony assault charge could be upgraded to a murder charge.

Boucher has a lengthy record and his involvement in the fight has lead to his bail being revoked. He is due back in court next month.
