Hundreds gathered at the Rhode Island State House Sunday night to honor the victims of the Charlottesville attack.
Those in attendance hoped to spread messages of unity and togetherness.
Some used it as a platform to speak out against injustices faced in their communities.
Meanwhile the State’s congressional delegation took to Twitter to denounce the violence.
Senator Jack Reed wrote in part that the country needs to stand up against prejudice and "strive for true equality."
Senator Sheldon Whitehouse added, "Our unity will overcome this bigotry."
Congressman Jim Langevin stated, "Hatred & bigotry have no place here."
We also caught up with Congressman David Cicilline for his reaction.
"Those are not patriots. They are undermining the founding values of this country. They don’t reflect on the greatness of America and I hope that everyone who saw that will condemn it and do everything possible to make sure instances like this never happen again in this great country."
