PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – An overnight car chase that began in Providence ended with a crash on Narragansett Boulevard in Cranston.
The two suspects are both known gang members. Just after midnight, their car smashed into a utility pole outside of a home, knocking out power.
But the car didn’t stop there – it then slammed into a rock wall in front of a neighbor’s home.
Before the car crashed, it was being chased by police in Providence.
Officers recognized the driver, 26-year-old Anthony Todd, as a known gang member He was speeding and was thought to have an illegal gun.
As police tried to pull him over, he drove off, leading them on a chase onto Narragansett Boulevard in Cranston. A witness says the car must have been going 100 miles per hour.
That’s when it lost control and crashed.
In the car, officers found a loaded gun. Underneath the car was a bag of marijuana.
Both Todd and his passenger, 25-year-old Trenton Lee, were arrested.
This type of activity is certainly not the norm in that quiet Cranston neighborhood.
Todd is facing several felonies, including carrying a gun without a license.
Lee was held on two active warrants.
