State Police arrest two Providence men after car chase

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Two Providence men have been arrested after a police chase on a pursuit on Interstate 95 South Thursday night.

Rhode Island State Police and Cranston police pursued the car after it struck a Cranston police cruiser.

The driver, 30-year-old Julio Calderon, lost control of the car causing it to strike the median near Exit 7 in East Greenwich and go off the road.

Calderon was taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. 35-year-old Obiwan Perez was arrested on scene.

Both suspects are facing on narcotics, weapons and motor vehicle charges.
