UPDATE: Man identified in fatal early morning crash on Rt. 24

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) – The man who died in an early morning crash on Route 24 in Fall River Tuesday has been identified.

State Police responded to the scene at approximately 5:00 a.m. after reports of a multi-vehicle crash.

Police discovered that a 2000 Acura 35R struck the left travel lane guardrail and came to a stop perpendicular to oncoming traffic.

An SUV then struck the Acura broadside and came to a stop in the left lane.

A van then rear-ended the SUV, causing the van to roll over.

The passenger of the SUV, Yau Wong Li, 65, of West Roxbury, was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by the SUV he was traveling in after it was struck by the van.

All lanes were closed on Route 24 South following the crash.

The lanes reopened at 7:20 a.m.

The crash is currently under investigation by State Police and no charges have been filed.
