Temporary Rhode Island DMV program at AAA comes to an end

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – The Rhode Island Division of Motor Vehicles is reminding people that a temporary program that let nonmembers conduct certain DMV business at AAA branches.
The temporary program was meant to last during a transition to a new DMV computer system. That transition shut the agency down to the public for part of July.
The program comes to an end Monday for people who do not belong to AAA.
AAA will continue to allow members to conduct approximately 20 kinds of DMV transactions, including renewals of drivers’ licenses and car registrations.
