EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — An East Providence man arrested twice in one week has been charged for possessing large quantities of fentanyl pills and cocaine with intent to deliver.

Rhode Island State Police said 33-year-old Kenny L. Deburgo, of East Providence, was arrested initially after a traffic stop on July 21st.

Members of the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force were conducting an investigation for the past several months, believing Deburgo to be a large-scale distributor of fentanyl-laced pills in the greater Providence area.

During the traffic stop, the HIDTA Task Force seized 325 fentanyl pills, approximately two grams of Cocaine, and $535.00 cash.

The projected value of the seized cocaine and fentanyl is between $9,000 and $10,000.

Rhode Island State Police noted that testing had to be performed to confirm the 325 pills were indeed fentanyl. Once confirmed, Deburgo was re-arrested on Wednesday.

Deburgo was charged with:

  • Possession with Intent to Deliver Schedule I-II. (Fentanyl)
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance. (Cocaine)
