Suspect in death of Google worker faces arraignment

WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) – The man charged with killing a Google employee from New York who went missing after going out for a run near her mother’s Massachusetts home is headed to court.

Angelo Colon-Ortiz is scheduled to be arraigned on a murder charge Wednesday in Worcester Superior Court in the death last August of 27-year-old Vanessa Marcotte.

Marcotte was visiting her mother in Princeton, about 40 miles (64 kilometers) west of Boston last Aug. 7, when she failed to return from a run. Her body was found several hours later in a wooded area not far from the family’s home.

The 31-year-old Angelo Colon-Ortiz was arrested in April after prosecutors say his DNA matched samples on Marcotte’s body.

He is being held on $10 million bail. His lawyer has not commented.
