Fall River man arrested, charged with burglary after breaking into local church

FALL RIVER, Mass. – Anthony Lopes, 45, was arrested by Fall River Police Tuesday for breaking into the Espirito Santa Church Rectory on Alden Street Monday.

Officers responded to the church at approximately 8 a.m. Monday after the Reverend reported someone entered his residence overnight.

The Reverend stated that he noticed multiple items missing from the residence that morning while exiting his bedroom.

The entrance door was found to be damaged and a vehicle was stolen from the garage area.

Investigators found the vehicle in a Dollar Store parking lot and later located Lopes.

Lopes was charged with burglary.
