Providence secures $1.1 million to provide cash payments to eligible residents
PROVIDENCE, RI (WLNE) – The city of Providence says it has secured $1.1 million to provide regular cash payments to eligible residents.
It’s called the Providence Guaranteed Income pilot program.
A city spokesperson says 110 residents living at or under 200% of the federal poverty level are eligible to apply for the opportunity to receive $500 a month for 12 months.

Applications will be collected online and through the mail from Aug. 15-21, with money expected to start going out in October.
