Rhode Island man arrested after a multi-state pursuit

CHELMSFORD, M.A. – (WLNE) According to police early Sunday morning, a Rhode Island man was arrested after a vehicle pursuit that started in New Hampshire and went into Massachusetts, ended in Chelmsford.
New Hampshire State Police tried to stop a stolen vehicle when Gregory Coffey, 32 of Warwick refused and took off onto Interstate 93.
After notification of an active police chase involving the New Hampshire State Police Department, Chelmsford PD positioned themselves to assist if necessary but Coffey’s vehicle became disabled near Vinal Square. Coffey was wanted in connection with a domestic violence incident in Hartford, VT.
He is held on charges of receiving a stolen vehicle, three counts of being a fugitive of justice, operating recklessly to endanger, failure to stop for police, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and giving false identification to police.
Coffey was transported to Boston hospital with what was determined to be serious self inflicted injuries.
Coffey is under guard and will be held for treatment and arraignment.
