Medical Examiner; Missing Franklin Boy Died of Hyperthermia

FRANKLIN, M.A. (WLNE) – The autopsy results released on Friday revealed that the 20-year-old missing Franklin man died from hypothermia; his death ruled an accident.

The search for Michael Doherty, a Duke University student came to end when his body was discovered near I-495, a week after he went missing.

Many southern New Englanders’ united in the search for Doherty, who disappeared after leaving a party.

A Rhode Islander from Cranston, 62-year-old William Derosa, a retired driver, traveled to Franklin to assisted with the search having no connection to Doherty, said “ this situation could happen to any family.”

In Franklin had neighbors draped trees with blue and white ribbons; the colors of Duke University where Doherty attended.
