First Massachusetts VaxMillions winners announced

BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE) – The winners of the first of five drawings in the Massachusetts VaxMillions Giveaway were announced Thursday by the Baker Administration.

The winner of this week’s $1 million prize is Darrell Washington of Weymouth, and the winner of the $300 thousand college scholarship is Daniela Maldonado of Chelsea.

Fully vaccinated residents age 18 and older are eligible to enter to win one of five $1 million cash prizes. Residents between 12-17 years old who are fully vaccinated can enter for a chance to win five $300 thousand scholarship grants.

“Congratulations to Darrell Washington and Daniela Maldonado on winning the first-round drawing for the VaxMillions Giveaway,” said Governor Charlie Baker. “Since we launched VaxMillions, over 2.3 million residents have signed up and hundreds of thousands of residents have gotten vaccinated, building on Massachusetts’ nation-leading success in protecting our residents.”

The deadline to register for the next drawing, on Monday August 2, is July 29. The winners of that drawing will be announced August 5. Residents must be fully vaccinated before registering.
