PawSox Rained Out, Doubleheader Set for Wednesday

PawSox news release…

Tonight’s (Tuesday’s) scheduled International League game between the host Pawtucket Red Sox and the visiting Syracuse Chiefs at McCoy Stadium has been postponed due to persistent rain throughout the afternoon and evening.

The PawSox and Chiefs will play a single-admission make-up doubleheader tomorrow (Wednesday) at McCoy beginning at the original starting time of 11:05 am.  Both games will be 7-innings.

Pawtucket has now suffered 9 postponements this season (5 at home and 4 on the road) among their first 57 scheduled playing dates (16%).

Last year, Pawtucket had 5 rainouts at home (a figure they have already matched this year)…their most since 6 home postponements during the 2006 season.  The PawSox had just one home rainout in both 2014 & 2015 and just three each in 2012 & 2013.

The PawSox have already played four doubleheaders this season and now have six more on the schedule.  The six make-up doubleheaders on the docket are…June 7 vs. Syracuse at 11:05 am, June 13 in Syracuse at 5:05 pm, June 17 at home vs. Rochester at 4:35 pm, July 5 in Rochester at 4:35 pm, July 28 at Indianapolis at 5:30 pm, and August 15 at Louisville at 5:30 pm.

Fans holding field box seats, reserved box seat tickets or general admission tickets for Tuesday’s game at McCoy (without a specific rainout date printed on them) can trade those in for any remaining regular-season game at McCoy based on availability.

The PawSox – winners of 6 straight at home and 9 of their last 12 games overall – will conclude their series with the Chiefs with Wednesday’s twin bill at 11:05 am.  The Buffalo Bisons will make their first visit to McCoy later this week for a 4-game set with games Thursday & Friday at 7:05 pm, Saturday at 6:15 pm (fireworks to follow the game) and Sunday at 1:35 pm.  It will be Star Wars weekend at McCoy with Paws-Jedi Bobblehead Night on Friday for the first 2,500 fans followed by Star Wars Night and fireworks to Star Wars music on Saturday evening.
