Police: Brockton man charged with kidnapping missing girl

A 32–year–old man from Brockton is being charged with kidnapping, and assault and battery after a missing 6–year–old girl from Norton was found in his car.

Police say Avery Howard was arrested on Foundry Street in Easton.

The 6–year–old went missing just before noon on Friday after a fight with her parents. Police say they received a tip from someone who saw the little girl, on the side of the road talking with a black man in a dark colored sedan with tinted windows.

After a three hour search police finally found Howard on Foundry Street.

The little girl was in his passenger seat, unharmed.
