NEW LONDON, Conn. (WLNE) — It was not entirely a warm welcome for President Trump Wednesday morning in New London where he gave a commencement speech at the US Coast Guard Academy.
Among his supporters were protesters. They all shared a space at McKinley Park nearby.
There were hundreds of people who shouted and waved signs demanding that their voices be heard.
Most of the people spent hours at McKinley Park for hours and have come from all over New England and beyond.
Supporters wanted the president to know that they were there for him and supported him, while protestors argued against the Commander in Chief’s policies.
It was not clear if the president went by McKinley Park on his way to the ceremony, but people, from both sides who spoke with ABC6 News, said it did not matter either way.
They simply wanted to let people know where they stood.
