PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – You may recognize her from our "Pick of The Litter" segment each Tuesday during our noon newscast.
Although she may be quiet, Lisa Levassuer is dedicated to the animals at the RISPCA, fostering hundreds over the years, and giving up so much to do it.
Levassuer has been the foster coordinator for the RISPCA for ten years now, and in that time she has fostered 179 dogs and puppies.
Lisa’s husband and two daughters have made it all possible, even family-friend Anne Mancini has opened her home to help with the life-saving efforts.
The Lavassuer’s have four special needs dogs of their own, and can’t foster puppies in their home, so about two years ago Lisa turned to Anne.
Lisa has stayed at Anne’s for the better part of two years. They’ve fostered so many litters recently she’s been there almost full-time since last September.
“I didn’t get to spend Christmas, New Year’s, Thanksgiving with my family. I was trapped here," said Lavassuer.
But all that time and effort is so worth it in the end.
"It’s rewarding to see the smile on someone’s face that you just met," added Lavassuer.
