Owner of Legacy Lounge gets robbed at gunpoint

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE): The owner of Legacy Lounge was robbed at gunpoint around 4 a.m. on Sunday, according to the Providence Police Dept. 

Gladys Mercado, 60, told police she was being followed home to Admiral St. from Legacy Lounge off of Manton Avenue by her own security. When Mercado arrived home, her private security left.

As she went to the back entrance of her home, she told police a man approached her from behind, grabbed her hair, told her to get to her knees, and pressed a handgun up to her chin. 

The man ordered Mercado to hand over her purse and cell phone. Mercado handed over her purse, which had $2,000 inside, 3 credit cads, her ID, 2 check books, and a cellphone. 

The suspect is described as a dark skin hispanic male, around 6 ft talll, skinny, wearing all black clothing, and a face mask. 

Mercado’s nephew was able to track Mercado’s cellphone using the Find My iPhone app. The iPhone was tracked to the corner of Cornwall St. and Vandewater St. 

Police responded and found her purse with cellphone inside. She said she was still missing the money inside
