FAIRHAVEN, Mass. (WLNE) — A 7-Eleven is trashed after a elderly driver mistakenly hits the gas pedal in the parking lot of the convenience store.

Two people are in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a car drove into a 7-Eleven.

Police and witnesses say it was a miracle that no one was badly injured after an elderly woman drove right into the store.

The woman told police she thought she was pressing the brake when she was actually hit the gas.

The driver and store clerk were both taken to the hospital.

Police say they are not badly injured, but both pretty shaken up.

A witness told ABC6 News that she was the only customer in the store something she said was unusual for the time of day.

The car landed about 10 feet away from her and she said the store immediately started filling up with smoke.

Police say that the group of people who were standing right in front of the window happened to leave just in time.

The car was towed out of the store a little over an hour ago. The building inspector has been called to check on the structure of the store.
