Man arrested for selling cocaine in school zone

CENTRAL FALLS – A 28-year-old man accused of distributing cocaine in a school zone was arraigned on Monday.

Delfino Catalan Vargas was charged with possession with intent to deliver cocaine, and distribution of a controlled substance near a school zone.

Officials say Vargas was apprehended around 8:00 p.m., on May 6 2017, after reports came forward that he was distributing cocaine from his vehicle.

With a court authorized warrant, members of the Central Falls Police Department’s Special Investigative Unit (SIU) found Vargas’ vehicle parked in the area of Bagley Street and Lonsdale Avenue. A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of $2000 worth of cocaine.

Vargas was immediately placed under arrest and his vehicle was seized.

He was ordered held on $20,000 surety bail.
