Man found stabbed, lying in street in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Police are seeking information on what caused a stabbing incident early Tuesday morning.

According to Providence Police, officers responded to Mawney Street for the report of a stabbing.

Upon arrival the victim was found lying in the middle of the street with a single puncture wound around 1:08 a.m.

The victim told police he was walking down the street when he was approached by a male subject wearing a black mask, black jeans and a black sweatshirt.

The unidentified suspect stabbed the victim once in the before taking off towards Updike St., police noted.

Authorities were unable to get any other information before the victim was transported to Rhode Island Hospital.
