Police: Motorcyclist dies after being hit by car

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Providence police are investigating a deadly crash from over the weekend that took the life of an 18-year-old motorcyclist.

Police have some leads, but are still searching for the driver responsible.

Investigators are making good progress with this case as they have located the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run, but they are still searching for the driver Monday morning.

Providence police identified the victim as 18-year-old Christopher Lucero of Providence.

The accident happened around 9 p.m. Saturday night on Manton Avenue. Skid marks in the street traveled the length of about a half a mile and ended on Amherst Street.

Police say Lucero was struck by a dodge mini van and then dragged along with his motorcycle.

Neighbors and friends of the victim say Lucero had just recently gotten his motorcycle license.

There is still no word from police Monday morning about any possible suspects or what charges they may be facing.
