Coventry police officer hospitalized after cruiser, vehicle collide

COVENTRY, R.I. (WLNE)- Coventry Police say an officer was hospitalized after his cruiser collided with another car Saturday morning.

According to the department, the accident happened just before 9:30 a.m.

The officer was on a routine patrol of Tiogue Avenue when his cruiser and another vehicle turning from Rawlinson Drive collided.

The officer was taken to Kent County Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The other driver did not sustain any injuries and was not taken to the hospital.

The accident is under investigation.
