Potter League raising funds to get animals out of Afghanistan
Another heartbreaking side effect of the crisis in Afghanistan is trying to rescue the animal there.
An animal rescue group in Kabul, known as Nowzad is trying to evacuate its staff members and family along with nearly 100 dogs, and close to 90 cats.
It’s a steep and dangerous challenge but a group from Rhode Island is stepping in to try and help.
The Potter League has worked closely with Nowzad for years.
They’re now trying to raise money to get them out of the country.
“For them and their families, their priority is getting them out,” Kara Montalbano of the Potter League said. “Their plan is take as many animals as they can but for them it also includes their family members so it ends up being about 70 plus people to get out, so that is their priority.”
