Sudbury nursing facility evacuated due to storm damage

SUDBURY, Mass. (WLNE) – All seventy-eight residents of a Sudbury nursing home and rehabilitation facility, some in critical condition, were evacuated Thursday when a ceiling collapsed.
Firefighters responding to Bear Mountain at Sudbury around 1:13 p.m. determined a roof that was under repair at the time of the storm was leaking. The building was deemed uninhabitable by 2 p.m.
Officials say the roof collapse and flooding caused serious damage to multiple floors and key facilities in the building.
The Sudbury Fire Department says all of the residents were safely transported to area hospitals or other Bear Mountain facilities.
The evacuation was completed at 8:28 p.m.
