PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence Police witnessed at least 20 individuals fleeing from a playground on Aleppo Street Sunday afternoon after over 50 people on dirt bikes and ATV’s drove through.
Christian Carrasco, 26, one of the dirt bikers, was arrested after losing control of his dirt bike around Manton Avenue.
Carrasco was charged with possession of a pocket knife and will face environmental penalties for riding the bike in a park and operating without a license.
A woman waved down police near Manton Avenue around 5 p.m. and pointed toward the pack of bikers on a nearby bike and walking path.
Police say they saw adults grabbing their children and running in fear as 50 to 75 bikers sped by.
The bikers then turned into Riverside Playground near many families with small children.
The bikers sped away as police followed them down Manton Avenue.
Carrasco was the only person charged.
