One hospitalized after apartment fire in Providence

PROVIDENCE: One personal was hospitalized after an apartment fire on Bissell St. in Providence, around 10:15 on Saturday night. 

A mattress was on fire in the bedroom, according to Deputy Assistant Chief Brian Mahoney. Chief Mahoney said a man in his 60’s was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The fire was quickly extinguished by sprinklers. The cause is still under investigation.
