Poor air quality expected throughout coastal New England Thursday

BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE) – The New England Regional Office of the Environmental Protection Agency announced Wednesday that poor air quality is expected for Thursday throughout coastal New England.

The air quality will be unhealthy for sensitive groups, due to high levels of ground-level ozone. The areas predicted to be most impacted are all of Rhode Island, coastal Connecticut, and southeastern Massachusetts.

The EPA recommends avoiding strenuous outdoor activity when ground-level ozone is high. To help reduce ground-level ozone, you can avoid driving your car or mowing the lawn, and avoiding other activities that use small gasoline-powered engines. Additionally, using less electricity by turning off lights and other devices when not in use.
