Boat fire in New Bedford estimated to be a ‘multi-million dollar loss’

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE)- A luxury yacht caught fire in New Bedford on Monday evening, resulting in what fire officials are calling a “multi-million dollar loss.”

The 80-foot boat caught fire just after 5:30 p.m. at Pope’s Island Marina.

The fire didn’t go out easily. The yacht contained 500 gallons of fuel, giving the flames some extra durability.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

No one was injured as a result of the blaze.
