Tractor trailer strikes utility pole

WESTPORT, MA (WLNE) – A tractor trailer attempted to enter onto State Road when it struck a utility pole on Tuesday.
The utility pole was split in half and electrical wires fell over the truck and the road.
Driver Joshua Bulter, 44, and an unidentified passenger were advised by officers to stay in the tractor trailer until the status of the power lines were deemed safe by the utility company.
The scene was declared safe and the two men appeared unharmed.
State Road was closed for several hours and damage to the wires caused outages to several local businesses and residents.
Eversource Energy and Verizon Telecommunications arrived at the scene to replace the pole and restore power to the area.
