Suspect in deadly hit-and-run seeks bail as family grieves
TAUNTON, Mass. (WLNE) – A man accused of killing a Taunton woman, while driving under the influence is trying to get out of jail.
ABC6 News spoke with Kenneth Rocha after the man accused of hitting his mother, Lisa Rocha, appeared in Bristol County Superior Court trying to get out on bail last week.
Meanwhile, Kenneth Rocha tells ABC6 News, whether Roland Escobar gets out on bail or not; that still won’t bring back his mother.
“I just constantly think about it and I have to tell myself it really happened. I just don’t see how it could happen,” Kenneth Rocha said.
His mother was hit while standing next to her car in downtown Taunton.
Rocha said his mother’s accused killer, Escobar, did not express sorrow, while in district court in early August, when a judge denied him bail.
The superior court judge in this case is expected to make a decision any day now.
“My son graduates next year. She won’t be at his graduation. She won’t be able to be at his wedding, you know, all that got taken from us,” Rocha said.
Rocha says he is still getting text messages honoring his mother.
“You don’t really realize it at the time, but now that they’re gone, you really see, you know, how special they were,” Rocha said.
A fundraiser is being held to support the family of Lisa Rocha on Sept. 20.
