PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Rep. Carlos Tobon (D-District 58, Pawtucket) is now requesting that his name be taken off a recent letter asking Governor Dan McKee to repeal a vaccine mandate for healthcare workers.

In his statement, Rep. Tobon said he first understood the fear of those who did not want to get vaccinated.

“But, after more consideration and conversations with those I represent in District 58, I realized there is a significant difference in regards to public health when comparing the risks of an unvaccinated worker in most professions to that of medical professionals who provide care for all of our residents. Individuals who care for patients of COVID-19 and numerous other health issues must protect themselves and their patients, and the only way to do this is through vaccination,” he said.

Rep. Tobon is the second representative to ask to have his name removed, after Rep. Raymond Hull (D-District 6, Providence, North Providence) on Wednesday.
