Rhode Island cities and towns remember 9/11 ahead of 20th anniversary

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- Cities and towns throughout the Ocean State are holding memorial events this weekend, remembering those who lost their lives during the attacks on September 11, 2001.

The following memorial events are being held on Friday:

  • East Providence 9/11 remembrance, East Providence City Hall, 11 a.m.
  • Opening of the “Never Forget 9/11 Exhibit”, Child Street, Warren, 12 p.m.

The following memorial events are being held on Saturday:

  • Pawtucket Country Club 9/11 Remembrance, 8 a.m.
  • Woonsocket Memorial Observance, Woonsocket Fire Department, 8:30 a.m.
  • American Legion/Rhode Island Marine Corps League Commemoration, RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 9 a.m.
  • Hope Valley Fire Department Parade, Hope Valley Fire Station, 9 a.m.
  • Narragansett Remembrance, Gazebo Park, 10:30 a.m.
  • Newport Sailing Race, 10:30 a.m.

The following memorial events are being held on Sunday:

  • North Providence Remembrance, Mary Mother of Mankind Church, 10:30 a.m.
