CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Jurors who have heard and seen the government’s evidence in the trial of the white man accused of gunning down nine people at a historic black Charleston, South Carolina, church will hear closing arguments on Thursday.

On Wednesday, jurors heard a chilling 911 call placed by a survivor during the attack.

That survivor told jurors Roof spared her life so she could tell his story.

In this FBI confession, Roof laughed the statement off.

“Do you remember telling that lady: I’m going to let you live so you could tell my story?” Roof laughs. Roof: Yeah. I remember saying that”

The final prosecution witness was a survivor who says she was told by Dylann Roof that he had to do it because blacks were raping white women and taking over the nation.

Prosecutors say roof had planned this attack for months and had scouted several other black churches as possible targets.
