Greater Westerly Heart Walk raises thousands for American Heart Association

WESTERLY, R.I. (WLNE)- More than $20,000 was raised to help fight heart disease and stroke at The Greater Westerly Heart Walk Saturday morning.

Dozens came out for the walk at Westerly High School while some joined in virtually.

ABC6 was a media sponsor of Saturday’s event.

ABC6 morning anchor K.C. Kantz was the emcee and evening anchor Tiffany Murphy was also in attendance.

The AHA of Southern New England held the event to raise awareness of heart disease and to raise funds for their mission to fight heart disease. According to the AHA’s website, 116.4 million Americans have high blood pressure and many of them don’t know. Left untreated, the AHA says the condition can lead to stroke or heart attack.
