Pawtucket moving forward with plans for dog park in Fairlawn neighborhood

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) – The City of Pawtucket is moving forward with a proposal for a dog park within Veterans Memorial Park, the city announced Monday.

Community leaders had created a petition and canvassed the Fairlawn neighborhood to determine if there was interest in the park.

“We are always working to provide the resources and services our community needs and wants,” said Mayor Donald R. Grebien. “A dog park in this location makes sense with how often Pawtucket families visit the park. We appreciate that a lot of time and hard work went into advocating for this dog park and are excited that we will be moving forward with this opportunity.”

The City says the design of the park will start this winter, and groundbreaking is anticipated to happen next spring.
