Man in Tuesday’s Taunton standoff identified

TAUNTON, Mass. (WLNE) – Taunton Police have identified the man who barricaded himself inside of his home on Tuesday afternoon.

Taunton Police say after six hours of attempting to communicate with 41-year-old Peter Rose, officers made entry into the home and found the him dead as the result of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Officers responded to Grant Street after a domestic disturbance call at around 2:20 p.m.

The caller said that her daughter was the victim of an ongoing domestic dispute with her husband.

When officers arrived on scene, Rose barricaded himself inside the home.

Police used a robotic device to enter the home and found Rose unresponsive.

Paramedics on scene declared him dead at 8:17 p.m.
