Green Line Collision

BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE) – The MBTA Green Line operator charged with causing a crash in July that injured 25 people was arraigned on Wednesday.

Owen Turner appeared in court on charges of negligence of a person having care of public conveyance and gross negligence in management of a train.

Turner is being released on personal recognizance. An Assistant District Attorney told Turner he cannot operate any motor vehicle while the case is pending. Turner also can only drive in the daylight, and only for certain family matters.

According to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, Turner was allegedly traveling at 30 miles per hour in a 10 mile per hour zone, causing him to crash into a slow-moving trolley ahead of him.

Turner’s next court date is December 8.
