Man arrested after getting into shouting match with middle school students in Woonsocket
WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WLNE)- A man was arrested on Thursday after getting into a verbal argument with middle school students in Woonsocket, according to a statement from Superintendent Patrick McGee.
The argument broke out at around 2 p.m. on the campus of Hamlet Middle School.
The students reported the incident to a school resource officer, who immediately addressed the issue.
Initial reports indicated that the adult might have had a firearm, but the officer did not find one on him.
The man was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
Some juveniles who were behaving disorderly during the incident were also arrested.
“As you know, maintaining the safety of our students and staff is our top priority, and I would like to thank the School Resource Officer, Woonsocket Police Department, and Hamlet Middle School Administrators for their quick response to this incident,” the superintendent said.
