PROVIDENCE, RI – Two people were sent to the hospital Tuesday night after multiple shots were fired at a car, parked inside an apartment complex off of June street. Neighbors described hearing the commotion just before 5p.m.
"I was upstairs watching movies and all I heard were gunshots, so I just ducked on the floor…threw myself on the floor,” said Angel Vasquez. The 16-year-old was one of a few residents who heard the shooting. "I just stayed there and then my grandma went upstairs and was telling me that they were shooting."
Vasquez told ABC6 News he took cover on the ground and stayed there until police showed up.
"I just ducked and I waited until the cops came. Then I came outside,” he said.
According to police, a 26-year-old man was shot at and hit in this car. A five year old girl, also in the car, was cut by broken glass from the window. A white car was spotted fleeing from the scene.
Residents in the area said another shooting took place a couple of weeks prior to this most recent incident. Adding, they no longer feel safe.
Police told ABC6 News that the injuries appear to be non-life threatening. The motive of the incident is under investigation.
