Massachusetts man surrenders after armed standoff

NORTON, Mass. (AP) _ A Massachusetts man who barricaded himself inside his home and fired several shots at police outside has surrendered.
No one was hurt in the standoff in Norton that started at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday and lasted until about 12:15 a.m. Friday.
Police say the standoff started as an argument between a man and a woman in the home. The woman and a young child escaped the home unharmed.
Norton police say the man at one point told officers he had 500 rounds of ammunition.
He fired several shots at police, striking a police vehicle. Police did not return fire.
The man, identified as 42-year-old Heath Mullett, was taken to the hospital for an evaluation. Police say he faces several charges, including assault with intent to murder.
