A Superior Court judge has ordered HP to continue working on Rhode Island’s DMV computer system.

The order also specifies that HP must provide project-related data to the court weekly.

This comes after the state requested a restraining order that will keep the company in RI until November 21.

HP had been working to revamp the state’s computer system for ten years, a project that is still not complete.

The state accused the company of breaching their contract.

HP says their employees have been working on the project without pay since June. They requested an additional $12 million to finish the update on top of the $13 million the state has already paid.

Both parties will prepare for expedited arguments after December 1 following the temporary restraining order.
