Man pleads not guilty to human trafficking charges

The owner of a cleaning company in New Bedford plead not guilty Wednesday for forcing a couple to work long hours without sufficient pay.

38-year-old Donny Sousa is facing charges including: human trafficking and assault, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Possession of a Firearm, Motor Vehicle Insurance Fraud, Larceny over $250, Non-Payment of Wages, Failure to Provide a Suitable Paystub, Employer Failure to Pay Minimum Wage, and Untimely Payment of Wages. .

Sousa who owns DMS Cleaning Services forced a couple to work 12 to 15 hour shifts seven days a week without paying legal wages.

He was released on personal recognizance on the condition that he have no contact with the victims and is due back in court in January.
