WICKFORD, R.I. – The Department of Transportation announced Thursday that the Hussey Bridge in Wickford is back open and earlier than expected.

The original plan was for it to remain out of service until the middle of November as repairs were made.

Officials say the bridge is now accessible to vehicle and foot traffic.

The Hussey Memorial Bridge built in 1925 and carries roughly 13 thousand vehicles a day.
