RI man busted in New Bedford with $6k worth of fentanyl

NEW BEDFORD, M.A. – New Bedford Police reported a Rhode Island man has been arrested on charges of trafficking fentanyl.
According to police, of the New Bedford Police Department narcotics unit seized 66 grams of fentanyl Tuesday, after a vehicle was stopped near Allen Street and Rockdale Avenue at about 6:45 p.m.
Police say they received information that the driver, identified as 21-year-old Christian Castellano, of Providence, was dealing fentanyl in the city.
A search of Castellano’s vehicle revealed a hidden compartment containing 66 grams of fentanyl.
Castellano was subsequently charged with trafficking fentanyl (over 36 grams) and trafficking in a class B substance near a park (Buttonwood Park.)
Police say they also located $180 in the hidden compartment, and that the street value of the drugs was estimated at $6,600.
